During the first 14 months of my
employment by BEA I was the Director of Operations, International (i.e. all
Territories except the Americas) for the Services Division. After that I became
Director Corporate Development EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) working as a
member of the corporate management team. As such I was responsible for the
identification, pursuit, negotiation and closure of strategic partnerships,
alliances, mergers and acquisitions, especially in but not limited to the

During my first 5 years with DIGITAL Germany I held positions as Computer
Service Business Manager, Projects & Consulting Business Manager, and as
Secretary to the German Board of Management. In the course of a five-year
assignment with DIGITAL Equipment International (Europe) in Geneva I progressed
from Computer Special Systems Products Business Manager (Europe) to Applications
& Systems Integration Practice Manager (Europe). On my return to Germany in
February '94 I was appointed Digital Consulting Business Operations Manager for
the newly formed Territory C (Germany, Austria, Central & Eastern Europe).
From January 1995 my role also included Systems Integration Management for
Central & Eastern Europe. On October 1, 1995 I became Manager, Systems
Integration for the Territory as a whole. From August through December 1996 I
was Director Business Operations, Networks & System Integration Services,
Europe and also specifically supported Germany and CEE. End 1996 I was appointed
Business Operations Manager, Systems Business Unit, Germany. Effective July 1,
1997 I became the Operations Manager, Germany, Austria, Central & Eastern
Europe reporting to the Territory VP. After the merger I was appointed Director
Operations, Compaq Computer GmbH, Germany, also responsible for the German Call

Emphasis in this period was on the restructuring of the DIGITAL Operating
Company and on the preparation of organisational integration.

Country Manager. Special responsibility for territory business management
(budgeting, operational forecasting, tracking and business controls) and major
change programs. Co-ordination of the German and Territory Management Boards.
Direct management of the Sales & Marketing Operations organisation
(responsible for Policies, Standards, Systems and Tools, Quality Management,
Order Management, Product Operations, Sales Controlling, Sales Measurement &
Compensation, Sales Admin). Co-ordination of all Operations organisations
(including Services). The FY98 revenue budget for the territory totalled approx.
1,400 M$ (products and services). Reporting to the Territory VP, Member of the

After the merge of Network Services and Systems Integration into one
Business Unit, and the abolition of the European level of line management, I was
asked to manage the remaining Area level resources on behalf of the Corporation.
My specific responsibilities included European business management, the
implementation of the NSIS policies, standards, systems and processes, quality
management, organisational certification and auditing. A key point of emphasis
was risk management through the European Project Office and the Project Approval
& Review Board. Simultaneously I held a comparable position for Germany and
Central & Eastern Europe. Business volume was approx. 700 M$ in Europe and
250 M$ in the Central European territory.

Europe (Czech, Slovak, Hungary, Poland, Russia, Ukraine and Central Asia). Here
the business volume was in the neighbourhood of 40 M$ with a resource count of
100.

Consulting, and Educational Services. Business Volume approx. 250 M$, population
1,500.
The emphasis was on planning and implementing the organisational
downsizing and restructuring in Germany, and on improving management and
business control over the expanding operations in Central and Eastern Europe.

planning of this precursor to Systems Integration. Annual revenues grew from
approx. 20 M$ to 50 M$. After the first large project wins, controls were
set-up, and a contractual framework was established. The first set of Formal
Business Management Directives (Business FMDs) was developed and implemented,
thus laying the foundation for the Systems Integration Project Office and the
Project Approval and Review process. This business line continued to include CSB
